Building Up’s mission is to support individuals with barriers to employment to gain stability for themselves and their families through community, compassion and long-term careers in the construction industry. The purpose of this grant was to support a workforce development initiative to explore the role of unions and mentors in increasing apprenticeship completion rates

The Storefront facilitates collaboration, builds community and supports people to learn and create together, to live healthy lives, to find meaningful work, to play and thrive. Their work is focused on the Kingston Galloway Orton Park Community.

The Centre for Inclusive Economic Opportunity, Golden Mile (CIEO) is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2020 by 10 community organizations to expand economic opportunities for residents of the Greater Golden Mile. The purpose of this grant was to support the Center for Inclusive Economic Opportunity - Golden Mile enable workforce development organizations to work together as an aligned collective that will address the employment needs of developers revitalizing Golden Mile

The Philanthropist Journal is a platform for those who work in, volunteer in, and advise the charitable and non-profit sector in Canada – sharing stories that build community and instigate discussion and debate. The funding supported the launch of a writing fellowship, designed to support emerging Black and Indigenous writers in exploring themes around work and working, with a focus on the non-profit sector in Canada. Each of the five fellows were paired with a mentor who provided guidance throughout the writing process, ensuring that fellows could reach their learning objectives.

The Academy for Sustainable Innovation Canada is a registered charity that was founded in 2018 with the recognition that the transition to a sustainable future isn’t just about technology solutions, but also the people behind it. The purpose of this grant was to support Academy for Sustainable Innovation implement an action research project that aims to identify the barriers and persistent feedback loops that hinder the entry and advancement of racialized women in climate action leadership careers across Canada.

Do Good Donuts and Café is a start-up employment social enterprise delivering work-based training for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The purpose of this grant was to support Do Good Donuts implement a workforce development initiative to create a toolkit to help employers understand how to engage with neuro-divergent employees and supports they need to succeed on the job.

Hospitality Workers Training Center, since 2004, has worked with job seekers, workers, employers, and researchers to develop and launch high-quality, responsive, career-focused initiatives that build resilience and excellence in the hospitality workforce. The purpose of this grant was to support Hospitality Workers Resource Center conduct research on the supports that non-unionized workers in the hospitality sector need to be gainfully employed.

The Neighbourhood Group Community Services is a social agency serving more than 45,000 low-income people and families in 30 locations across Toronto. The purpose of this grant was to support The Neighbourhood Group Community Services implement a workforce development initiative that will help develop an employer engagement strategy.

Founded in 1974, Times Change Women's Employment Service is a Toronto-based non-profit organization. The purpose of this grant was to support Times Change Women’s Employment Service implement a workforce development initiative that will help enhance its workforce development program and develop an employer engagement and partnership strategy.

Newcomer Women's Services focuses on the immediate needs of immigrant women by directing them to settlement resources and providing them with language instruction, pathways and coaching towards employment opportunities as well as programs that help them overcome the systems and structures that impede their success. NEW also provides pathways to employment, training, coaching and programs to disadvantaged youth. The purpose of this grant was to support Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto implement a workforce development initiative that will help enhance its workforce development program and develop an employer engagement and partnership strategy.

Mothercraft believes that all children should be placed equally on a path to reach their full potential, regardless of where they begin. Since 1931, they have been a leader in supporting healthy child development, working with community partners to address the changing needs of families. The purpose of this grant was to support Mothercraft to implement a workforce development initiative that will help enhance its workforce development program and develop an employer, regulator and employee engagement and partnership strategy.

Black Women in Motion is a Toronto-based, survivor-led, grassroots organization that empowers and supports the advancement of Black women, girls, nonbinary and gender-non-conforming survivors of gender-based violence. The purpose of this grant was to support Black Women In Motion complete its outstanding programs and close the organization.
